Nature’s glorious range of herbs and spices make vegan food even more enjoyable. Today, I’d like to offer an herb growing tip. Basil is ideal for home gardeners thanks to its fresh flavor, fragrant leaves, and easy-growing nature. Several common issues can cause basil leaves to turn yellow. One of the most frequent causes is overwatering, which can result in basil roots becoming stressed or experiencing root rot. Therefore, reducing watering and letting the soil dry slightly may help the plant recover. A nitrogen deficiency is another possible culprit. Nitrogen is essential for healthy leaf growth, and a lack of it can cause older leaves to turn yellow. If so, apply a balanced fertilizer to restore the nitrogen your basil needs. Certain diseases, such as downy mildew, can also cause yellow leaves with dark or discolored patches. To reduce the risk, avoid wetting the foliage and provide good air circulation. By identifying the underlying cause early, you can often restore your basil to good health and keep it producing flavorful leaves throughout the growing season.
